The Next Phase....

About the Project

Following our recent meeting, we wanted to share a bit of an update.

Over the past year there’s been a lot of hard work behind the scenes, including ongoing discussions and meetings with StreetScene at East Devon District Council to help get regular road sweeping back into Seaton. Alongside that, we’ve seen improved street cleaning, continued work in the gardens, and more businesses and residents taking real pride in their properties.

It’s never going to be perfect, but compared to where we were, the town is looking really good and that’s down to a combined effort. So a genuine thank you to everyone who’s played a part, from the council teams to shopkeepers and residents who are keeping things tidy and looking after their frontages. We’re also seeing more scaffolding going up around town, which is another positive sign that people are investing back into their properties.

There’s always more to do, but we do feel we’ve reached a point where we’ve achieved what we set out to do with Shipshape in terms of cleaning up.

Because of that, we’re now moving into the next phase, from cleaning up to making improvements!

Over the coming months you’ll start to see more happening around town, including bringing back some of the original school artwork from previous years. This will include new flags (which will go into the existing Christmas tree holders), bunting, and, working in partnership with Seaton Town Council, the introduction of murals in selected locations.

More on that to follow.

In the meantime, we’d like to get as many people involved as possible.

We’re encouraging everyone to take a look at the front of their property, whether that’s a shop, house or business, and see what small improvements can be made. That could be as simple as clearing weeds, tidying up, repainting, or just giving things a bit of attention.

We’ll be running this throughout May and would love to see some before and after photos. We’ll be running this throughout May and would love to see some before and after photos. Please send them to us via our Facebook page or email to info@seatonchamber.org

We’ll be giving away 5 hampers for the best improvements and will share some of the entries along the way.

If everyone does a little, it all adds up, and it makes a real difference to how the town feels for both residents and visitors.

Let’s keep the momentum going!
